Need a specific program to launch with admin rights every time? Windows lets you set this up in just a few clicks.
Option 1: Apply Admin Rights to the Program File
This method affects the .exe itself, regardless of how it's launched.
Right-click the program’s .exe file or shortcut.
Select Properties.
Go to the Compatibility tab.
Check Run this program as an administrator.
Click Apply, then OK.
Effect: All users on the PC will run the program with admin privileges.
Scope: Applies universally — whether run via shortcut, Start menu, or command line.
Option 2: Apply Admin Rights to a Specific Shortcut
This method only affects the particular shortcut being modified.
Right-click the program’s shortcut.
Select Properties.
Go to the Shortcut tab and click Advanced.
Check Run as administrator.
Click OK, then Apply.
If prompted, click Continue to confirm.
Effect: Only this shortcut launches the app with admin rights.
Scope: Other shortcuts or direct .exe execution remain unaffected.
Running with elevated permissions ensures stability in tasks that require deeper access — but be mindful of security when enabling it.
