Fine-tuning your PC's energy usage can make a noticeable difference in battery life or performance. Here's how to quickly adjust the power mode using built-in tools.
Change Power Mode via Windows Settings
Press Windows Key + I to open Settings, or right-click the Start button and choose Settings.
Navigate to System > Power.
Under Power mode, choose one of the following:
Best Power Efficiency – Saves battery; ideal for long usage on low power.
Balanced – Good compromise for everyday use.
Best Performance – Boosts responsiveness; best for demanding tasks.
Change Power Mode via Control Panel
Press Windows Key + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter.
Under Preferred Plans, choose:
Power Saver
Balanced
High Performance
Important: Selecting Power Saver or High Performance here disables the “Power mode” dropdown in Windows Settings. Only Balanced mode keeps both options active.
Once applied, your system will optimize battery usage or performance depending on the selected mode.
Whether you're conserving battery on the go or unlocking peak performance for heavy tasks, Windows 11 lets you choose what works best.
