How To Enable / Disable AutoPlay in Windows 11

AutoPlay is a handy Windows feature that lets external media launch automatically when connected. Whether you want it active or prefer manual control, changing the setting takes just a few steps.

Press Windows + I or right-click the Start button and select Settings.

In the left sidebar, navigate to Bluetooth & devices.

Scroll down and click on AutoPlay.

Use the toggle switch under Use AutoPlay for all media and devices to turn the feature On or Off.

You can also set specific actions for Removable drives and Memory cards using the drop-down menus.

Making AutoPlay behave exactly how you want can simplify your workflow or prevent unexpected pop-ups — it's all about preference.
